Quit Smoking

How can Laser Therapy help me quit smoking?

It is the extra release of endorphins that takes away the craving for nicotine. It is similar to smoking in that, when you smoke you inhale nicotine, it goes into your body and makes you feel better for 20-30 minutes. These effects generally wear off quickly, prompting you to smoke another cigarette to raise your endorphin level once again. You are basically under constant stress & pressure to continue smoking. This is where the addiction comes in. Through the laser therapy, your brain will release these endorphins continuously for an extended period of time, therefore diminishing the physical craving.

We have a 90% success rate in only 1 visit with immediate results!! The effects of the laser will last from 6-9 months. Generally only one visit is al that is required to completely alleviate the addiction. If however, you smoke within 3 months of your initial treatment, an additional treatment is provided to you at no additional cost. Boosts are available at a nominal charge, should the cravings persist beyond 90 days, although this is unusual.

It is important to note that not everyone responds or reacts exactly the same way. The reaction can depend on such things as pharmaceuticals, the tissues and individual receptability. There are no known side effects from laser therapy, and the majority of people treated with this respond positively.

Smoking Cessation with Laser Therapy

The extra release of endorphins greatly diminishes the physical dependency and addiction to the nicotine, alleviates the negative withdrawal, cravings and stress normally associated with quitting smoking and generally leaves you feeling very calm and relaxed. Additional diet and weight loss points are stimulated as well to help ensure that you don't transfer the habit from smoking to eating. During the treatment some clients have reported feeling a warm, tingling sensation, while others simply experience a very calming/relaxing sensation. The release of endorphins has been said to assist in sleeping, aid in stress reduction as well as giving you a general sense of well-being. These feelings could last up to 9 months. To avoid weight gain following your laser therapy, it is strongly recommended that you eat smaller meals more often during the day, and of course, watch your choices. You are much less likely to gain weight following your therapy due to the fact that we stimulate metabolic points important to your overall health. Once you quit smoking your energy level increases, as does circulation, making exercise that much easier and more enjoyable. [ Top ]

Do you truly want to quit?

Wanting to quit is 1/2 the battle, one that can be won if you are committed to changing habits and disassociating certain triggers and stress causing these situations.

However, we have had many clients that come in because of one of the following reasons:

a) surgery will not be done until after they quit smoking
b) their work place bans smoking through out, including the parking lot
c) a spouse says quit or else

Laser therapy is not the quick answer; and effort has to be made by the smoker in order to succeed in quitting for life. At Laser Concept Therapy we counsel you on how to not only become a non-smoker.but how to remain a non-smoker...for life. Some of those clients who have smoked 4-5 packs or cigarettes a day walk out after their treatment without any desire to smoke even though they originally did not truly want to quit, they did come in for one of those above reasons. We do everything we can to ensure your success.

Ask yourself, "Can I see myself with out a cigarette?" "Am I prepared to enlist the help of family and friends in times of stress or "tough" times?" "Am I prepared to use alternative coping strategies, or just give in and smoke?"

You have to want to quit, if you are not 100% "mentally" prepared to quit, give yourself time. [ Top ]

Staying Quit / Behavioral Modification techniques

Behavior modification deals with changing the habit patterns that cue or trigger you to smoke throughout your normal activities of daily living. these cues may be phone conversations, coffee breaks, meals, sexual activity, boredom, traffic problems, or other frustrations. Eliminating these triggers will drastically reduce the times you will be tempted to smoke a cigarette. Aside from eliminating activities that can lead to temptations, you are also recommended to begin others that will reduce the chance of temptations. For example: sucking on candy, chewing on a toothpick, using ordinary chewing gum, etc. [ Top ]

Alternative Smoking Cessation Therapies

In all of the scientific studies that have been conducted with regards to smoking replacement therapies have concluded that the highest success can be attributed to Laser Therapy. The success rate has been documented as high as 90%. While most therapies address only the physical addiction to the nicotine. At Laser Concept Therapy, we address the physical addiction, the habitual aspect of the addiction as well as the psychological addiction.

Patch / Gum: This form of cessation is Nicotine Replacement Therapy. As the name states, you are treating a nicotine addiction with nicotine. Whatever you inhale, chew or absorb, nicotine is nicotine, regardless of the form or method of delivery. There are many known side effects as well with either of these methods: skin disease, vascular disease, insomnia, nightmares, dizziness, nausea, rashes & constipation.

Prescription Pills: Zyban (Wellbutrin), these are two of the most common pills used today. These must be taken for 12 weeks straight, however these prescription pills carry the most severe side effects: seizure, high blood pressure, rash, hallucinations, insomnia, psychotic episodes, odd behavior.

Hypnosis: Works for some, however the power of suggestion has been documented to work as well as the placebo effect. Some hypnotists try to hypnotize 150 people at a time.

Acupuncture: Quite often this form of therapy is uncomfortable, invasive and ongoing for a number of days/weeks at a time. While this works for many people, the effects of Laser Therapy last much longer and actually work in 1/10th of the time as traditional acupuncture, which on average requires 10 treatments, over several months.

Counselling: This works best when done one on one, and in combination with another therapy. At Laser Concept Therapy, we use counseling along with the actual Laser Therapy. Many suggestions and recommendations are given during the therapy, all of which are based on over 28 years of experience. We are always researching new methods of delivering information and new ideas to help motivate our clients. By following the suggestions, breaking the habitual aspect becomes much easier and life long. We at Laser Concept Therapy also supply each and every client with several booklets as well as an array of items to help you in the years to come. These items are helpful if you are ever in an atmosphere where you become tempted or triggered to have a cigarette. This is exclusive to Laser Concept Therapy, no one else offers such a complete package.
